The Ninth Annual Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival weekend runs November 16 to 18 at El Museo Cultural in cooperation with Keep Santa Fe Beautiful and New Mexico Recycling Awareness Month. The Festival opens on Friday with the famous, wild and crazy Trash Fashion & Costume Contest starting at 7:00 PM. See extraordinary designers transform garbage into glamour and strut their stuff down the catwalk. Cash prizes are awarded to each category; Adult, Teen, and Child.
The Recycle Santa Fe Art Market features dozens of the finest artists and crafters selling recycled goods. All of the vendors create arts and crafts from at least 75% recycled/reused materials. The Festival also includes a Recycled Art Exhibition with work that is made from at least 75% recycled/reused materials. The exhibition will have three competition categories for kids, teens and adult which will be judged for cash prizes of up to $200 and gift certificates from local businesses. The Festival also includes a Student Art Show with cash and prizes for classrooms with outstanding participation.
On Saturday from 12 noon to 2pm the Albuquerque chapter of Artist Trading Cards will lead a recycled art workshop for children (adults too!) to make their own artist trading card. Artist Trading Cards are individual art miniatures which pass hand to hand. Classically trained celtic harpist, Michele Buchanan will play throughout the day at the Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival.
